Really good ROI

Katja Kurochkina from Aito Technologies: "We had an important customer project last summer with very strict deadlines. We were implementing a lot of new complex, challenging features and functionalities.

We were immediately impressed by the way Vincit presented itself. They came well prepared and demonstrated what they knew. We did a good contract with Vincit: if we wouldn't be satisfied we'd get our money back.

Vincit is very professional and thorough. They were not shy to ask questions and played around with the product to get to know it. Bugs were always investigated and corrected quickly. They gave us ideas about what could be done better, worked independently and did good quality.

This customer project was our best so far. Everything worked exceptionally well and customer was very positive. We got a very good ROI for this project."

Analyzing atoms

Vincit implemented a remote web user interface and Linux/Qt platform extensions for Oxford Instruments Analytical Oy's handheld EDXRF analyser for metals and minerals (watch introduction video). Technologies utilized were Linux, Qt, C++, Javascript, and HTML5.

IA XRF Software Design Manager Jarmo Leino from Oxford Instruments Analytical Oy: "Vincit gave us a 100 % satisfaction guarantee and a fixed price offer. Those things convinced our organization right away and influenced on our decision to choose them.

The project was very difficult and technical, but Vincit's guys did an excellent job. Vincit integrated seamlessly to our organization and the whole co-operation was ongoing communication. It felt just like working with our own team.

Everything went very well with Vincit's management. They understood immediately what this project was all about and suggested new ideas and technical solutions for the software. We are definitely going to continue working with Vincit. Vincit did everything we hoped for and all the prices were spot on."

Trust at first sight

Vincit implemented Megaflex access control system for Megalock Oy.

Harri Henritius from Megalock: "We found trust during first meeting with Vincit. They knew right away what to do. We were only supposed to update our user interface, but because Vincit had the expertise to do other things as well, we redesigned the whole code and databases.

We get a lot of wishes and requests about new features from our clients. Vincit has been very good at keeping up with them. First real rush came when one of our clients made some surprising requests that had to be implemented before their project's deadline. Fortunately Vincit was able to handle all of them and even some extra features.

Vincit is full of top-notch professionals. Sometimes in meetings I wonder aloud about some features and they always have a solution for me. Vincit's vast know-how amazes me."

Changing things along the way

Vincit implemented a physical activity prosessing and analyzing cloud service (backend) for Hookie Technologies. The user is carrying a small activity meter that collects continuously data about the user’s physical activities based on 3D accelometer. This information is then uploaded to the cloud service, where it is analyzed and converted into different sports, energy consumption, intensity and steps. In addition Vincit implemented a research-oriented web-service (frontend) that visualizes this information. Analyzing is done by algorithms developed by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. Vincit also implemented a client for Android.

Teemu Haapala from Hookie: “We didn’t want to give too strict specifications in the beginning because we knew that things would evolve after a while. Vincit was able to start off with flexible solutions and specifications weren’t set in stone. We have been able to change things along the way when our understanding has grown. It has worked very well.

Vincit has been very independent. We have received a progress report and had a Skype meeting once a week. Of course, if there has been problems or questions they have been answered quickly.

We are very happy about how the project has gone. We are ahead of schedule and below budget. It couldn’t go any better than that, could it? We trust that these guys know what they are doing and so we are already starting a new project.

The vincitizens haven’t yet tested the activity meter and service on themself. We will definitely do that and find out are they doing anything else than sitting in front of computers all day!”

Speaking the same language

Vincit designed and implemented a tailored Business Intelligence service for Tammimetsä. The service gathers real-time information about cash registers, personnel and purchase histories in different business locations.

Hiski Lapinleimu from Tammimetsä: "The project was very customer-oriented. It was easy to buy service from Vincit, because they caught up quickly what we wanted. They spoke the same language as we did and they came up with good suggestions along the way. Vincit's employees are youthful, relaxed, productive and very extroverted for a software company.

Vincit is very approachable. It is also the first software company I know of, which really concentrates on the visuals and readability of the software. I absolutely recommend Vincit to others.

Coffee offered to me in project meetings at Vincit was not as good as our roastery's coffee. It is fortunate for us that the coffee in offices is not good because the employees have to go to our coffee houses. We demand more bad coffee to offices!"

Vincit implemented a real time financial software with Logica. Project lasted for almost two years, and the key technologies were Java, Oracle and JBoss.

Mikko Kaasinen from Logica: "Despite strict schedule the project went very well. For the whole project I give a grade of 9, as there is always something to improve. However, for Vincit I give 9,5.

I liked Vincit's technology, project and teamworking competence. Teamworking is very important in a geographically distributed software project. Technology competence was needed in development and database design. Cooperation and reaching agreed goals required project good management skills.

We will definitely continue cooperation with Vincit."

Vincit scores on a Teleste project

Vincit specified, designed and implemented a tailored identification solution for one of Teleste's clients. The delivery comprised of Windows client software and a Linux-based server solution.

Harri Jokela from Teleste comments: "We required a supplier urgently for our customer project. We had to go with a fairly poor requirements specification and had little time for project guidance. We are glad that Vincit's process worked so well. After the kick-off they participated in creating a requirement and design specifications. Vincit followed through in excellent form. Actually, the project finished early, which is very rare in the business.

As a school grade I would give Vincit something very close to a perfect 10. The project just could not have gone better. I am prepared to recommend Vincit for similar projects. Naturally, we will continue our cooperation with Vincit when there are suitable projects.

Teleste is an international technology group specialised in broadband video and data communication systems and services. The company is a leading provider in both areas. The company serves its customer in 30 countries and has 1350 employees. For more information visit www.teleste.fi

Proactive ideas for Tanla

Vincit was involved in developing two products, License Manager and Access Manager, for Tanla Ltd. Vincit implemented a Linux middleware component for Tanla's licence management solution. For Access Manager, Vincit implemented a Web-based management system.

Miika Kettunen from Tanla comments: "The project was superbly executed. Vincit's most noticeable quality is their flexibility. Another characteristic is their knowledge - there is certainly no company in our region that could have handled the project better. Their service-mindedness is excellent; they will always answer when we call. Everything went smoothly and fast.

It is hard to give a school grade for the project... I guess one cannot never give a perfect ten, so I say nine. The reason? They did what was said and promised. And in addition to this, Vincit has tried to proactively look for solutions. All we had to do was to listen, and then pick the best ideas.

Often service providers will only do what is explicitly asked - that simply may not be enough. As a customer, it is not always possible to follow what the supplier is doing, so I felt it was a great advantage to have a supplier that was looking for new solutions from the customer's point of view. This works at Vincit."
